Film trip through DU
Duisburg is no longer a place unknown on the tourist map and hasn't been so for a long time. Our city was further enriched with even more, fantastic attractions in 2008. So come and join us on a wonderful film trip through the 'new Duisburg'.
Zoo Duisburg
In 1934 'Duisburg-Hamborner-Tierpark Verein' (Zoological Association) created the necessary conditions for the present day zoo. In 1951 the 'House of a Thousand Fish' was opened and in 1965 mainland Europe's first dolphinarium opened its doors. In more than 2 million litres of sea water and against a backdrop of a Caribbean palm beach, the elegant sea mammals perform several times a day in front of their enthusiastic public.
A further attraction is also the ape house, and for children in particular the petting zoo.
Spielbank Duisburg
The Spielbank Duisburg is the main attraction in the new CityPalais. The WestSpiel gaming company's experienced team invites you to try your luck using one or other token at the numerous machines or tables.
CityPalais
Duisburg lies right at the heart of Europe and it is an aim of the new show-piece between Königstraße and Landfermannstraße to make it known regionally, nationally and internationally. The CityPalais was completed at the beginning of 2007 after just 20 months' of construction. As early as February WestSpiel was able to open the most modern casino in Germany and in April the 'Grand Opening' was formally celebrated with the inauguration of the new Mercatorhalle.
