Innenhafen
Inner Harbour

At one time it was the trading centre for goods of all kinds. Today it is a vital new quarter for living, working and culture- the Inner Harbour Duisburg.
Since the start of its renovations in 1993, it has enthused both the citizens of Duisburg as well as city tourists with its growing gastronomy mile, urban development, architectural quality, and its high cultural standard.
The Küppersmühle, for example, presents contemporary artwork from the Ströher New Collection set in incredibly beautiful museum architecture. One can also take a glimps in the history of the city in the Culture and City Historical Museum. The historical works of Gerhard Mercator, the great son of the city, also have a worthy setting. Children will be the main participants at Legoland Discovery Center, which will open its gates in spring 2008.
Not only are the museums and buildings impressive but also the entire surroundings. The Marina, the 'Garten der Erinnerungen' (Garden of Memories) and the uniquely moveable suspension bridge attract people taking walks, bicycle tourists and joggers alike.
Everything is possible here. The 'Nacht der Industriekultur' (Night of Industrial Culture) or the Dragon Boat Races, the previews at the local museums and galleries, or the Marina Market with its culinary pleasures set the stage for the Inner Harbour Duisburg and enthuse the Duisburgers and the tourists.
For anyone wanting more information about the 'philosophy' of the Innenhafen or about the current events offered, which we are presenting, there is expert information and advice at the RUHR.VISITORCENTER Duisburg in the CityPalais.
