Niederrheinische Musik- und Kunstschule (School of Music and Art)
The 'Niederrheinische Musik- und Kunstschule' came into existence from the 'Städtische Singschule', which was established in 1954, and departments of the Konservatorium, established in 1900. The school's main building is close to the inner city in a former (originally primary and subsequently secondary) school. From this centre, in buildings all over the city, musical education is offered which the man in the street can understand: learning to play an instrument, dance, art, the theatre.
The centre point of work here is the development of creative activities and of paths of communication by joint encounters with music and art. Also offered is training which will prepare the learner for the study of art . From this school there proceed important impulses for cultural life in the city, which lead to close cooperation with all cultural institutions, schools offering a general education and social establishments.
