The most striking building in the sports park is the students living-in tower of the Wedau sports school, which can be seen from a great distance. The building is hexagonal in shape and from its viewing terrace there is a fine view round the sports grounds and the city nearby. The sports school can house and feed over 350 sports students.

The building of the ice sports hall at the beginning of the 1970s filled a gap in the palette of sports grounds offered by the sports park Duisburg. Not only can the ice hockey players of the EV Duisburg team use the surface but also the people of Duisburg, when it is open to the public.
